Dr. Yesie Yoon, M.D., M.S., DFAACAP, is a triple board-certified physician in Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College and an attending psychiatrist at the Center for Childhood and Adolescent Behavioral Health at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health. A native of South Korea, Dr. Yoon completed her medical degree at Yonsei University College of Medicine and earned a Master of Science in Healthcare Quality and Safety from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She completed her Pediatrics/Psychiatry/Child and Adolescent Psychiatry training in the highly competitive Triple Board Program at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati.Dr. Yoon brings a unique and integrative lens to child mental health, informed by her cross-disciplinary training and extensive leadership in academic medicine. Her clinical and research interests include integrative psychiatry, pediatric delirium, adolescent depression, relational psychodynamic psychotherapy and improving access to mental health care through quality and safety initiatives. She has served in multiple leadership roles, including Director of Quality Improvement in Psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center and Director of Child Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison at UAB.As a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), Dr. Yoon currently co-chairs AACAP’s Asian Caucus and serves on its Diversity & Culture Committee. Fluent in Korean and English, she is passionate about culturally responsive care and reducing mental health disparities among immigrant and Asian-American families. Dr. Yoon is dedicated to empowering families and trainees alike with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate complex mental health systems. Her work integrates clinical excellence with a strong commitment to education, community outreach and systems-level change.
